Abstract

The present study aimed to develop and test a model of the relationship between employees’ work conscientiousness and organizational excellence based on the EFQM framework in the Tehran Municipality Sports Organization. This applied, descriptive-correlational study was conducted using structural equation modeling. The statistical population consisted of 220 employees of the Tehran Municipality Sports Organization, of whom 144 were selected through stratified random sampling based on the Krejcie and Morgan table. Data were collected using Aslani’s 58-item Organizational Excellence Questionnaire covering nine EFQM criteria, including five enablers and four result dimensions, and the 16-item Costa and McCrae Work Conscientiousness Questionnaire measuring reliability and achievement orientation. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.92 for organizational excellence and 0.81 for work conscientiousness. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 and SmartPLS version 3 through partial least squares structural equation modeling. Work conscientiousness had a positive and significant relationship with organizational excellence enablers (β=0.512, t=9.94). It was also positively and significantly related to organizational excellence results (β=0.796, t=13.04), representing the strongest structural path in the model. In addition, work conscientiousness had a positive and significant relationship with overall organizational excellence (β=0.659, t=11.74). Model fit indices were satisfactory, with SRMR=0.064 and NFI=0.915, while R²=0.739 indicated strong explanatory power. Employees’ work conscientiousness was significantly associated with the enablers, results, and overall level of organizational excellence. Enhancing employees’ reliability and achievement orientation, together with improving managerial systems and organizational processes, may therefore contribute to higher levels of EFQM-based organizational excellence in the Tehran Municipality Sports Organization.
